Who am I? It’s a question many have asked themselves. Everywhere we look, images are being painted. The artist, however, is not a sole painter but rather a society. It paints for us images of what it means to be beautiful, successful, and happy. Are those images the actual truth, or false images that rest on the fine line of unattainable? The ever-increasing dilemma of what is true has become blurred by selfish interests. In such a world, the truth about ourselves is sometimes painted wrongly, represented by fake images.

Society is quick to tell us all that we should be, but it is made up of many people who do not have a clue themselves. Algorithms are written to help people understand what sorts of things are trending. What is beautiful? What does success look like? Am I happy? But are results being delivered to us the actual truth or just what is thought to be true for us based on our own search data and browsing history?

As bad as society is at painting the image of who we are supposed to be, we have just as much ourselves to blame for the mess we see. Lies upon lies have covered the canvas of our lives until we are so confused that we do not even know who we are. When lost in the moment, we must return to the beginning and surrender the brush to the one who began our canvas.

Although the original image may seem lost, it is firmly planted in the mind of its originator. Although our canvas was misrepresented, our Creator sees us without all the lies. He knows our potential because He was the one that placed it within us. But it cannot be revealed to us until we are ready to accept it. When we give back the brush of life, our masterpiece can resume.
